PROJECTS

PATHWAYS

Pathways is a competency-based 5-step sailing skills program susitable for all age groups, regardless of physical ability. Skills covered include:

  • getting comfortable in boats

  • steering a boat along a straight course

  • turning corners (tacking and gybing)

  • boat handling

  • sail trimming

Recognition of Achievement statements are presented at various stages as participants progress through the program.

SAILABILITY PONTOON

To further improve our operations and the services we offer, Sailability Tin Can Bay is currently seeking funding to obtain our own pontoon, to be located at the Tin Can Bay Yacht Club. This is a long-term project, the outcome of which is dependent upon a successful funding grant application.

FUNDRAISING

Volunteers man a stall at the Tin Can Bay markets each month. We use the stall to raise awareness of Sailability, to collect donations and to sell "Lucky Numbers". For $2, you can choose a number to go into the draw to win $100. Sailability raises $100 from each "Lucky Numbers" fundraiser. We often have one of our dinghies on display, which is a great draw-card for "little" sailors

Our local community is very supportive and visitors to Tin Can Bay are often surprised at the number of amenities that our little community has available for those with difficulties and disabilities. However, we are totally dependent upon monetary donations, funding grants and sponsorship to enable us to continue to provide our services.

All donations are gratefully received!
